City of Hollywood, Florida - Official SealRight in between Fort Lauderdale and Miami is the sea-side town of Hollywood with its approximately 141,000 residents and its twelfth biggest city in Florida status. It is truly a classic beachtown on the southeast side of Broward County, having constant visitors since the 1920’s. For those who love the beach, and love visiting Florida, and don’t want to put up with Miami’s “crazy” lifestyle, then Hollywood is the right fit. The beach features one of the most one of a kind boardwalks. It is actually an award winning Boardwalk, which stretches out almost two and a half miles in length right next to the sand and beautiful Atlantic ocean. Great for joggers, bicyclists, roller-bladders and pretty much just anyone going for a walk. This boardwalk also has quite a number of bars and restaurants, that you can relax, take a pause from life.

You can get here, easily, from wherever you are. If you are coming from the Ft.Lauderdale airport, then you have 2 choices. You can follow the signs to US 1 South, and take that all the way to Hollywood Boulevard, or follow the signs for 595 West, and once you’re are in it, follow the signs to I-95 South. This will take you to Hollywood Blvd as well, and then you can head east a couple of miles to downtown Hollywood, or head east 3,5 miles to the beach.

Downtown Hollywood FloridaIf you are coming from the Miami airport, then follow the signs to North Lejeune Road and 836 East. This will take you to I-95. Take this interstate north, all the way to Hollywood Blvd. From that point on, follow the instructions above for when you get to Hollywood (Just head east!). Now, if you are coming from ft.lauderdale area, then you have the choice of taking I-95 south to Hollywood Blvd or just simply heading south on US1 will take you to downtown Hollywood. Coming from the East, from 595, just head to I-95 south and take that to Hollywood Blvd.

Once you’re there, take your shoes off and just enjoy the laid-back atmosphere that this city has to offer. Choose from an immense and world-class variety of restaurants, bars and gourmet restaurants.

Hollywood Beach, Florida - BoardwalkThis city was founded in 1925 and grew rapidly in the 50’s and 60’s. Just like its “sister town” Hallandale, it is truly a place to take into consideration whether you are planning a vacation or simply planning to move. If you are planning on moving to this Hollywood area, there are some considerations that one would need to keep in mind. One of the most influential ones is truly the traffic that you would have to endure if you plan on working on either Miami or Ft. Lauderdale. The traffic on your way to Fort Lauderdale, and back, is not as bad as if you plan on living in Hollywood but working in Miami. Then you would have no choice but to take I-95 to work and back. Well, you do have a choice: Spending over 2 hours taking US1 up to Hollywood. Since you are not going to do that, then you must be prepared for bumper to bumper traffic getting out of Miami, especially if you have to face either the Dolphin or Palmetto Expressways. In that case, you might want to consider living somewhere closer to work. A Place that would be closest to the Hollywood lifestyle, on the west side of Broward County, and according to this writer’s opinion, would be Pembroke Pines. Of course, without the Beach. But here’s the best part about South Florida. This part of the State isn’t really all that wide. You can live on the very edge of Broward County and still be at the beach in about 20 minutes. There are many who move to South Florida thinking that they must find a place along the beach to live in, when they could find a very peaceful place close to their job, and still be not that far from the beach. In fact, when you live in places like Pembroke Pines, Weston, Sunrise, you have the option of going to whatever beach you’d fit in the best. Or whatever Beach feels more “right” for that particular day. If you want peace, then you have the choice of Dania Beach. If you want peace but good food along the sand, then you have Hollywood. And, if you are in a very good mood, and feel like being around people in the same mood as you, then you would probably find yourself heading on over to South Beach.

When hotels are what you are looking for, then you have your choice of staying at some lovely small hotels along the beach at the boardwalk, or a super luxurious hotel on the beach, such as the Westin Diplomat.

A very convenient Trolley Service runs every Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday, from 10am to 10pm and Fridays and Saturdays from 10am to 11pm, running back and forth from the downtoan are and the beach are. And, once you are downtown, you have, at your disposal, the buses that run pretty much anywhere else in the Broward County region.

Make sure you drive on over to one of Hollywood’s ocean front parks. There are three of them, and it is an amazing way to kick back and relax after a long week at work. They feature everything from water play fountains, picnic areas, playground, and the list goes on. Plus it is truly
