Fort Lauderdale Florida - City SealFort Lauderdale should honestly be called the Sunshine city. This is where people are drawn to come and have a great time. 77 Celsius is the average annual temperature for this city. As of 2010, the population was of about 166,000. This is the number for residents only. This number doesn’t even come close to the millions of tourists that visit this town every year. Florida is, of course, known for its warm temperatures, white sand beaches and crystal blue beaches, and Fort Lauderdale is no exception. This beachfront city is nationally known for its cleanliness.

This city is truly a driver’s paradise. Especially if you like to see and be seen. You can get here from I-95 pretty easily, and you have a few options for exits on that Interstate. If you are coming from the north, then you can get off at the north of the city, at Commercial Blvd or Oakland Park Blvd, or right after you can get off on Sunrise or Broward, or even Davie Road, and just take any of these roads to the East and you will hit the beach.

Fort Lauderdale - Boating on the Intracoastal WaterwayIf you are coming from the Fort Lauderdale airport, then look for signs pointing to US 1 north. Then you can take that all the way north to Downtown Fort Lauderdale. Once you cross a tunnel (Yes, a tunnel), you must take your first possible right turn. Once you do that, then all you have to do is take another right turn and go straight so that you end up in Las Olas. At that street, you make a left turn, and you will be very much pleased. Not only you will pass by an immense amount of amazing world class restaurants and bars, but you will also be led through a whole lot of the most beautiful houses you’ll ever see, with their yachts parked in their backyard. Fort Lauderdale has the largest amount of privately owned yachts in the world. It is here that you have the biggest Boat Show in the world as well, and it is very much worth it to visit, even if you are not buying anything.Fort Lauderdale Beach and Boardwalk

If you are coming from the South, then you’ll be wanting to take Davie, Broward or Sunrise to get into the city. And if you are coming from somewhere in the east, then what you should do is simply keep going east on 595 until you hit US 1 North. Then take that into Ft.Lauderdale, or quickly get onto 17th street and just drive that all the way to the beach.

This beach destination is Broward’s most popular exceptional blue wave beach. This city is world-famous for its 4 miles of coastline, and for its numerous restaurants, bars, wineries, night clubs, shopping and list goes on. And if you are planning on moving to Ft. Lauderdale, then you have a selection of condos whose prices can go from very cheap to extraordinarily high. We are talking about some of the finest luxurious condominiums in the world. You see, this city has it all. Those who live here, and work here, have the opportunity of really have the best of both worlds.

This entire area of south Florida, stretching all the way to the very south of Miami-Dade County, has some of the worst traffics that anyone could ever be a part of. So, living in a city where you can find a job and live there, then you’re in the right track. Some people fall in love with Fort Lauderdale but have to make the drive to Miami because of their work. Those are people who, fortunately, can have a wonderful weekend.

Fort Lauderdale, Florida - Condo on Intercoastal WaterwayMany still think that Fort Lauderdale is not a family oriented town and that it is mainly packed with College students. Well, this scenery has changed. Even for Spring Break the number of college students have gone down, and down by a lot. Which is a great thing. More and more you will see single families coming down for a great time swimming, going jet-skiing, snorkeling, diving, and the list goes on.

Fort Lauderdale has become a great place to simply drive around in. If you sit down at Beach Place, a great open Mall right there on Ocean Drive, you will see people pretty much driving in circles around the very same spot.

This city was named because of all the Forts that were built during the Second Seminole War. What was once nothing but land, grew amazingly fast since its first major settlement in the 1920s. And it is still growing. Fort Lauderdale is now an immense and influential Financial District and home for Fortune 500 Companies. Not to mention that, if you are indeed a driving and car enthusiast, then it is in Fort Lauderdale that you will find dealerships of any exotic brand you can possibly think of. This city has sold more Ferraris and Lamborghinis than almost any other dealer in the world.

On the other hand, if you are the type that prefers leaving your car at home, where it ecologically belongs, then you are in for a treat. Fort Lauderdale is comprised of a very large number of bus routes. The whole “do not drink and drive” motive is one of the factors behind the growing number of people using this bus service.
